A successful mission with a royal touch!

On the 1st and 2nd of October, we visited the region of Occitanie with an economic mission focused on Aerospace, Agrotech, and Offshore Floating Wind. Around 38 aerospace companies joined us on this visit, which was combined with a royal working visit by His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima.

The focus for the aerospace industry was to strengthen existing ties and make new connections. In this light, multiple LoIs and MoUs were signed with French partners, and the message of “more orange into Airbus and more Airbus into the Netherlands” was echoed by the attending government representatives, Robert Tieman and Aukje de Vries.

Additionally, we had a good first introduction with ATR and Safran and look forward to following up on these new relations. Both companies are working towards new ways of propulsion for both regional and long-haul flights. ATR is doing this through hybridisation of their existing models, aiming for launch between 2030 and 2040, and Safran is focusing on the development of an open fan engine and has requested more information on the thermoplastic capabilities in the Netherlands. We will follow up with both companies and keep you informed on the next steps.

Finally, we have signed a more detailed MoU with Collins Aerospace on the research and development of thermoplastic materials. Together with Collins Aerospace and the Dutch ecosystem, we will look for and define use cases for thermoplastic materials which we can jointly develop in the Netherlands for the NGSA programs currently on the drawing table.
