Carrying the legacy forward – Key Highlights and Reflections from the NAG General Assembly and Honouring Frank and welcoming Paul Eijssen
The NAG Annual General Meeting at Collins Aerospace was a momentous occasion, marking the conclusion of Frank Jansen’s time as Managing Director and welcoming Paul Eijssen as his successor. The event also celebrated a major milestone collaboration, setting the stage for the future of Dutch aviation.
A Milestone MoU for Sustainable Aviation
During the meeting, NAG proudly announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RTX (NYSE: RTX), Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, Dutch aerospace companies and research institutions. This partnership is focused on advancing sustainable aviation technologies, including reducing carbon emissions, developing innovative propulsion systems (electric and hydrogen), creating advanced materials and improving manufacturing processes.
“This MoU is not just a document; it is the start of transformative work”, said Tjerk Opmeer, Deputy Director-General for Business & Innovation. Supported by the Dutch government, the collaboration unites government, industry and research institutions, creating a foundation for lasting impact that no single organisation could achieve alone.
Frank Jansen underscored this sentiment, saying: “An ecosystem can only thrive when government, industry and research institutions come together”.
The signing, held during the General Assembly at Collins Aerospace in Houten, symbolised a shared commitment to sustainability, a key challenge for aviation as it connects the world while addressing its environmental footprint.
Insightful presentations and updates
The General Asssembly featured presentations from industry leaders Michiel Blaauwhof, Arnau Castillo and Michael Foley, providing valuable insights into aviation’s future. NAG Chairman Lex Besselink reflected on the organisation’s achievements, introduced new members and thanked Collins Aerospace for hosting the meeting.
Mentimeter
The meeting concluded with a ‘Mentimeter’ session to measure interest in next year’s events and align with industry goals. Inter Airport Europe in Munich and MRO Americas in Atlanta emerged as the top choices, while the Airport Show Dubai and Dubai Air Show also attracted attention. Participants highlighted renowned trade fairs such as the Singapore Airshow, ILA Berlin, and Aero Friedrichshafen as priorities, with regions like Japan, Asia, Canada, and the USA frequently mentioned for future exploration.
On a national level, the key topics of interest for activities next year include sustainability, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), finance, and hydrogen, reflecting a strong focus on innovation and industry development.
