A delegation of over 55 Dutch aerospace and airport technology experts recently completed a four-day Partners for International Business (PIB) – Sustainable Airport Development mission in Indonesia, aimed at fostering cooperation to create smarter, greener airports.

The mission kicked off with an inspiring welcome from Adriaan Palm, Deputy Head of Mission at the Dutch Embassy in Indonesia. Early discussions highlighted the need for a holistic approach—addressing every link in the airport ecosystem to boost capacity, efficiency, and sustainability.

The delegation gained valuable insights during visits to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, where meetings with InJourney Airports and InJourney Aviation Services explored future development plans. A stop at AirNav Indonesia showcased their advanced air traffic management systems and plans for modernization.

Traveling to Surabaya, the group connected with local leaders including Vice Governor Emil Elestianto Dardak, the Honorary Consul Lily Jessica Tjokrosetio, and representatives from the Netherlands Business Support Office. This networking highlighted the region’s eagerness to embrace Dutch expertise and collaboration for regional growth.

The mission concluded at Juanda International Airport, where the CEO of InJourney Airports shared plans for airports in East Java and Yogyakarta. Dutch cluster members presented their capabilities to support Indonesia’s ambitions for sustainable and efficient airport infrastructure, followed by an in-depth tour of the facilities.

Grateful for the warm hospitality and strong partnerships, the delegation returns home energized and ready to build on the connections made, with next steps already in planning to support Indonesia’s airport development journey.
