The annual LiT (Aviation in Transition) event – Insights
The annual LiT (Aviation in Transition) event on October 3 brought forth many inspiring insights once again. One of the highlights was a presentation by Erik Geertsema from Conscious Aerospace, who spoke on the theme of “community” in aviation, though his emphasis seemed to be more on “passion.” His remark, “Every corner of the Fokker company identified themselves with that aircraft,” struck at the heart of his message. He underscored that this deep-rooted passion is often missing today, not only in aviation but across many industries. Yet, aviation is uniquely positioned to revive this sense of dedication and pride. The question remains: how can we pass on that contagious passion for aviation to the younger generation? Building a strong community seemed to be an excellent first step toward achieving this goal.
A powerful shared vision also emerged from his speech: “We are all motivated by the drive to make sure we are allowed to keep flying”. This statement perfectly captured the spirit of the day. Discussions highlighted how crucial initiatives like LiT are, especially given that funding has been withdrawn. Thanks to projects like LiT, we can continue to innovate and ensure that, after 2030—when government support may end—we have a sustainable business model in place.
