LR Systems BV has ordered the 1st 20kW laser System from TRUMPF Netherlands. The system will be delivered to Southwest Research Institute for integration into the 1st Laser Coating Removal Robot that is scheduled for full testing by the end of 2016.

Paul van IJsselstein, CEO LR Systems: “With this important step we are well on track to deliver the 1st Laser Coating Removal system to our customer during the 2nd Quarter of 2017. Menko Eisma, CEO TRUMPF Netherlands: “We are proud that we may collaborate in this challenging project. We have faith in LR Systems and the other project partners. TRUMPF is confident that this first order is a start of a successful business case.”

The Laser Coating removal Robot (LCR) is a state-of-the-art, integrated, scalable and fully autonomous paint removal solution, which simultaneously avoids pollution, reduces processing time, decreases the workload of maintenance personnel and supports a continuous 24/7 operation.

The start of the LCR development was announced in December 2014 by the Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs, His Excellency Henk Kamp. On that day initial agreements were signed between LR Systems B.V. and its key partners Southwest Research Institute, TRUMPF, NTS Group and the Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR).
