Driving Change – Advancing MRO with Sustainability and Digitalization
On December 5th, 2024, the Special Interest Group (SIG) MRO, in collaboration with World Class Maintenance (WCM), hosted an event at Fokker Services Group in Hoogerheide. The meeting focused on the theme “Improving MRO Processes with Sustainability and Digitalization”. The goal was to inspire participants from the aviation sector and beyond by showcasing practical examples from other industries and collaboratively exploring innovative, short-term solutions.
Kicking off the event, we were welcomed by Edwin Poldermans from Fokker Services Group, followed by an introduction from Jacob Derks from WCM.
The day started with an inspiring keynote by Ruud Poppelaars from Equans in which it was emphasised that smart technology and organisation in Asset Management offer a lot of potential. The main message: start small and experiment with innovation in Asset Management!
Jan Verbeek from ADSE then provided an update on the National Collective Business Plan, with insight into opportunities for the Netherlands to put itself back on the map in the MRO sector for the current and future fleet.
After the break, there was an interactive workshop where participants worked in small groups on concrete challenges facing the aviation sector. Each group formulated an innovation project with clear goals and necessary steps to achieve results within two years. These projects are further explored and developed by the SIG, with the aim of starting the most promising projects in Q1-Q2 2025, in which the SIG plays a facilitating role.
The day ended with lunch and a tour through the Newton Room, where young people were inspired for a career in technology through innovative education.
The meeting was very successful, both in terms of content and atmosphere. The program was well connected and delivered concrete results, with collaboration and innovation central. Thanks to Fokker and AM&TS for hosting and thanks to the contribution of the participating companies.
The meeting was made possible by a TKI HTSM grant.
