Last month, a Dutch delegation successfully completed a high-impact mission to Indonesia, under the Partners for International Business (PIB) Sustainable Airport Development Indonesia, aimed at fostering sustainable aviation solutions and opening up long-term business opportunities for Dutch companies in Southeast Asia.
Organised by the NAG, in close collaboration with the Netherlands Embassy in Indonesia and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), this mission brought together Dutch companies, and government representatives with their Indonesian counterparts for a week of meaningful exchange and collaboration.
The delegation visited both facilities in Jakarta and Makassar Surabaya. Activities included workshops, site visits, high-level discussions and individual matchmaking. The site visits offered participants firsthand insights into Indonesia’s current airport infrastructure, operational challenges, and ambitions for modernisation—especially in terms of passenger experience, energy efficiency, and regional connectivity. Topics ranged from sustainable terminal design and circular construction to smart mobility and integrated airport development.
A key highlight was the shared commitment between Dutch and Indonesian stakeholders to co-create future-proof airport infrastructure that aligns with both countries’ climate and innovation goals. The mission also provided valuable insights into local needs and priorities to help shape future cooperation.
With strong interest from key stakeholders in Indonesia, the mission laid a first foundation for partnerships. It showcased the Dutch expertise in creating sustainable, resilient, and user-friendly airport environments and our willingness for collaboration.
This mission marked a step forward in deepening bilateral ties while advancing the shared ambition for greener, smarter aviation infrastructure. It also reaffirmed the Netherlands’ position as a strategic partner in supporting Indonesia’s broader infrastructure and climate adaptation goals in the coming decades.
