On Thursday 25 September the Aviodrome hosted the Introduction Course Aviation 2025, organised by the Netherlands Aerospace Group (NAG). A diverse group of participants from across the aviation sector came together for a day filled with knowledge, inspiration, and networking.
The day began with a warm welcome from Paul Eijssen (NAG), followed by a series of insightful contributions from experts across the aviation industry. Joris Melkert (TU Delft) opened with an engaging overview of aviation’s history and future. Jan Verbeek (ADSE) explored the development, production and maintenance of aerospace technology, while Guido Schwartz (Airbus Netherlands) shared insights into current market developments from an OEM’s perspective. Arjan de Jong (NLR) discussed innovation in Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO), and Joeri Aulman (NACO) shed light on airport planning and infrastructure. Hans van Weerdenburg (To70) offered a behind-the-scenes look at air traffic control operations and Jan Willem van Dijk (Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management) outlined the government’s role in fostering sustainable aviation.
During lunch and a guided tour of the Aviodrome, participants explored aviation’s rich history while making valuable connections. In the afternoon, groups worked on the central question: “What will the airport or aircraft of the future look like?”. This led to creative and surprising concepts, with sustainability and innovation as key themes. Young NAG was also represented: Mark Reijndorp presented their activities and announced that an exciting vacancy is open to join their board.
The day concluded with a networking reception, certificate ceremony and dinner. At the certificate handover, each participant was asked to sum up the day in a single word. “Inspiring, innovation, sustainable, collaborative and even mind-blowing were mentioned. A colourful reflection of how valuable and diverse this course was experienced”, according to the organisers.
Participants returned home with new knowledge, fresh inspiration, and valuable contacts. The Introduction Course Aviation 2025 once again proved its value as a stepping stone towards a future in aviation.
