On Friday March 15th the NAG Special Interest Group 3D had a meeting with Aerodelft in order to bring AM into liquid hydrogen powered aviation.

Driving sustainable aviation, the AeroDelft student team mission is to prove that emission free aviation is possible. A full-scale Sling 4 aircraft powered by hydrogen, the Phoenix is set to fly in 2026.

An enlightening facility tour demonstrated the real-life challenges of liquid hydrogen propulsion in aviation to the NAG SIG3D team. Followed by an in-depth exploration of additive manufacturing potential many new opportunities for cooperation were spotted. To be continued!
