Open Innovation

On Thursday May 27th, 2021, NAG organized an Open Innovation event in collaboration with Hello New Day, an innovation consultancy firm.

The goal of the event was to discuss possible applications of Open Innovation in the aerospace industry, and to possibly start a new joint initiative, facilitated by the NAG.

Ruben Ogink, founder of Hello New Day, gave an introduction to the world of Open Innovation, or collaborating with third parties. This presentation handled the basics of Open Innovation, as well as some preliminary results of the doctoral research about Open Innovation that Ruben conducts at the University of Technology Eindhoven and Tilburg University. Examples from other industries, such as the infrastructure-, process- and railway- industry, served as inspiration for the interactive part of the event.

In the interactive part of the event, the participants did a so-called “Bringing-in/Taking-out-session”. What would they like to take-out of a possible new joint initiative, and what would they bring-in in such an initiative? For a successful collaboration, there needs to be a balance between these two. Also, barriers to Open Innovation which the participants experienced were identified. In order to have a successful collaboration, these barriers need to be overcome.

Because of the enthusiasm of the participants, NAG and Hello New Day are currently looking at a follow-up for this first event. Suggestions are welcome and can be sent to wilma.pronk@nag.aero.

Waardevolle sessie! Dank hiervoor.
