Aero Engine Round Table – Innovation in internal & external logistics – October 12th, 2017

On Thursday October 12th the NAG (in collaboration with the DGTA) organised its third Aero Engine Round Table session of 2017. The Round Table was held at the Kuehne + Nagel engine services facility in Velsen-Noord around the theme “Innovation in internal & external logistics” and was attended by more than 25 delegates.

Rob Droog (Kuehne + Nagel) kicked off with a presentation around value added services for engine storage followed by Peter Rietdijk (Avio-Diepen, now renamed Proponent) who gave an overview of the latest logistic innovations considered by spare parts distributors. Subsequently, in break-out groups, the participants discussed the challenges faced by logistics companies to remain competitive and how new logistic concepts can contribute to a company’s continuity and competitivity. Topics included amongst others the involvement of start-ups, 3D printing, cooperation within the value chain, virtual reality, and the true impact of value-added services. The insights shared covered a broad range of participants’ working experiences thereby contributing greatly to the liveliness of the ensuing plenary discussion.

The Round Table was concluded with a shop tour and networking session, thus allowing for a more one-on-one sharing of opinions, experiences and business cards.

The Round Table was made possible by a topsector HTSM TKI grant.
