Educavia goes international: MRO Europe London
MRO Europe: students, innovation and networking
8 students from Flanders and The Netherlands, studying in the field of aerospace engineering, visited the MRO Europe event in London at the 17th of October. These eight were the winners of an essay competition where they had to explain why they wanted and needed to visit MRO Europe in Londen.
In the context of the Educavia Project, NAG organized a program for these students in aviation engineering. One of the goals of this programme, financed by EU Program Interreg, is to bring the industry, students and educational institutions closer together.
We started the day with an Aerospace Tour from the Holland Pavilion to visit several companies: Boeing, Fokker Techniek, Qualitair, Specto etc. Students got a short presentation at the stand from the companies. They talked about internships and possible jobs for the future. They were able to ask anything they wanted. At Qualitair, Operations Manager Helene de Wolf gave the students more insights specifically about applying and what it involves. The students received a “CV check” via Qualitair so that their resume is completely ready and future proof!
After the lunch break, it was time for the students to go and explore companies of their own choice. In preparation, all the students made a wish list of companies to find out more about the companies and job possibilities. Also at the Holland Pavilion, there was the possibility to meet several Dutch companies.
All in all, it was a very successful day! All the students were very enthusiastic and also the companies received them with open arms. Many connections with a diverse range of companies were made and of course many goodies were collected 😉
The entire day at MRO Europe with the students was followed by our videographer Dennis with a.o. the visits to the various companies, interviews with the students and people from the Aerospace sector. These videos will soon be available for viewing through the channels of Educavia and the NAG.
“Aviation is something global, and thanks to Educavia we had the opportunity to taste this global web. We realized that every factor in aviation is important and that technology is so much more beautiful than it sounds. MRO London was a revelation in how much aviation there is in this world and we had the opportunity to get to know all those companies better. Without the initiative and the proper direction of Educavia and the NAG, I would not have gotten from behind my computer, speaking my best English to make to new contacts. Maybe for an internship, maybe even a job but what is certain is that there is a bright future in aviation and I am happy to be there.”
