meeting SIG Aircraft Interiors "recycable or circulair interior"
We would like to invite you for a meeting of the SIG Aircraft Interiors “recyclabe or circulair interior” on December 12th, 2023 from 13:00 – 17:00. We are pleased to inform you that we will be the guest of Proponent Netherlands B.V. in Alphen a/d Rijn.
Background
The SIG Aircraft Interiors has been working on a new joint theme recently: recyclable or circular interior. The core members of the SIG have chosen this topic as a joint theme since signals from Embraer, Airbus and the industry at large all point in the same direction. The recyclability of cabin interior and all the materials around cabin services are a growing concern. Due to a.o. the flammability requirements cabin interior parts often end up in a land fill with no way to give the materials another practical use. Some materials are recyclable, but other manufacturer requirements still prohibit the use of non-virgin material. Materials related to cabin services are often recyclable but are not circular yet. And then there are other challenges as well. Parts and materials should be as lightweight as possible to reduce fuel burn (or energy consumption in general) and thereby that part of the environmental footprint. But also working conditions in tight cabin spaces must be addressed to contribute to a sound working environment for the crew. A recent scouting mission with Airbus highlighted the discussion once more. Also, the visit of Peter Vink to Embraer (TU Delft Industrial Design/member SIG Aircraft Interiors will address these topics.
Purpose
To address these challenges and concerns, the SIG wants to combine forces in The Netherlands and use the discussions with Airbus and Embraer under the respective MoUs to seek new business opportunities in a joint effort. We want to use the upcoming meeting to reflect on this and discuss a way forward and explore partnerships on the NL side.
Target audience
For this meeting we mainly invite SMEs and large companies working in the field of aircraft interiors.
