Why Participate?
Brazil is the largest economy in Latin America and its continental size makes aviation essential to connect all regions together, being the largest air transport market in the continent.
During last 10 years Brazil has been outsourcing airports to the private sector that were out of date after decades of low investment, opening an attractive market to a wide range of suppliers and investors in the aviation sector.
As of today, Brazil has granted 22 airports to private groups, another 43 airports are planned for auction within the next 2 years, making Brazil the biggest source for business in the airport sector on the short term.
The Commitment
In May 2020, the Dutch Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Brasilia released a detailed report recently done by aerospace consultant Mr. Marcelo Cantor about airport development in Brazil. The report can be found here.
More recently, the RVO and the Dutch Embassy started a public private partnership for Sustainable Airport Development in Brazil. This program aims to bring together a group of companies and research institutions who will engage with the Brazilian market for a 3-year period with the goal of positioning themselves in this growing market.
To prepare this long-term commitment, the following activities will be executed:
- October 2020: Dutch Brazilian Video Conference, with participation of the Brazilian Ministry of Infrastructure, explaining the past and future concessions of airports
- January 2021: Dutch Brazilian webinar to prepare Fact Finding mission
- April 2021: Fact Finding Mission to Brazil
- July 2021: Technical visit of Brazilian governmental agencies, concession holders and companies to the Netherlands
